Welcome to Heaphy Track Help

Who we are

Derry Kingston started his Heaphy Track Help business in 2003. He had long seen the need for a car relocation service for the Heaphy Track. He concluded that the most efficient way was to drive the car from one end to the other and then to walk back quickly. So he has now walked the Heaphy Track more than 400 times!

Derry's long involvement with the Golden Bay Tramping Club has given him extensive knowledge of both the Kahurangi and the Abel Tasman National Parks.

Helen Kingston, Derry's wife, acts as agent and support. Their family has lived in Golden Bay since 1979, Helen having been one of the local doctors until 2006 when she retired.

"We love the community of Golden Bay and never tire of its magnificent surroundings. It is our joy to enable others to share these, particularly by walking tracks such as the Heaphy and the Wangapeka,  experiencingthe ever-changing mountain, bush, river and sea shores of the Kahurangi and Abel Tasman National Parks."

Derry has become a bit of a legend on the track, if you see him stop to say 'hi' or ask for a photo as this passing tramper did.
